In the summer of 2002, Duncan McLean an Australian national swimmer and lifeguard,
saw an opportunity to develop a line of men’s swimwear that was colourful, chlorine
resistant and more comfortable than what was available for swimmers at the time.
In 2004, with hot demand for the women’s version of Funky Trunks, the first range
of Funkita swimwear was developed with an emphasis on creating sculpted, chlorine
resistant swimwear in vibrant prints.
The company is run by swimmers who understand what swimmers want.
Funky Trunks and Funkita are owned by Way Funky Company Pty Ltd, a registered
Australian private company. The Head Office is based in Collingwood, Melbourne with
a permanent staff of 15 and sales agents and reps around Australia and the world to
help spread the Funky Trunks and Funkita love.
